This lovely antique pin has a deep rich color amethyst in the center. The purple amethyst stone was a color mainly used by courts of royals to grace the jewelry of the Monarchs and Popes of the middle ages. This particular amethyst was set in a detailed filigree mounting which has all the qualities of a fine handmade piece. The artisan who crafted the pin, designed it with much care, as evidenced in the woven cutout swirls, raised design and roping detail given to the piece. It was made of 14kt yellow gold and is circa late 1800's. |
